HOUSTON — Alex Bregman, one of the Astros’ most anticipated prospects in recent years, will make his Major League debut Monday night against the Yankees at Minute Maid Park. Bregman is in the lineup at third base, batting sixth.

“It’s fun. It’s exciting. That’s what you dream about doing, you dream about getting to the big leagues and dream about being in the postseason,” Bregman said in a news conference on Monday afternoon. “You can tell these guys are are excited, excited to be here. I’m just excited to be here in the big leagues.”

Astros manager A.J. Hinch said following Sunday’s 13-3 win over the Angels that the club will purchase the contract of Bregman and designate infielder Danny Worth for assignment.

“It’s a dream come true,” Bregman told MLB.com. “And I’m ready to go work, keep my mouth shut and hopefully help contribute.”
