Chapman goes to Cubs for Warren, 3 prospects

HOUSTON — The Yankees have agreed to flip flamethrowing closer Aroldis Chapman to the Cubs for a four-player package that includes promising shortstop Gleyber Torres, MLB.com has learned.
Neither the Yankees nor the Cubs have confirmed the deal.
The 19-year-old Torres was ranked the Cubs’ top prospect and the No. 24 prospect in the game by MLBPipeline.com. New York also will reacquire right-hander Adam Warren, who was dealt to Chicago last offseason, as well as Minor League outfielders Billy McKinney (ranked No. 5 in the Cubs system) and Rashad Crawford.
The clubs have not formally announced the trade, but it is expected to be completed on Monday. Wielding a fastball regularly clocked in the triple digits, the 28-year-old Chapman was 3-0 with a 2.01 ERA and 20 saves in 31 appearances, striking out 44 batters in 31 1/3 innings.
The Yankees are expected to move left-hander Andrew Miller back to the closer’s role, in which he recorded 36 saves in 38 chances last year and was named the American League’s top reliever. Miller is 7-for-9 in save opportunities this year, working as the closer while Chapman served a 30-game suspension under Major League Baseball’s domestic-violence policy.
