Rumor roundup: Mets reportedly pursuing Lucroy

The rumor mill was focused on Aroldis Chapman on Sunday night, with the Yankees reportedly nearing an agreement to trade their closer to the Cubs.
But with the Aug. 1 non-waiver Trade Deadline now a week away, many other potential deals are in the works as well. Here is a look at the rest of the developing news from around the league.
Mets making a run at Lucroy Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy has been a frequent subject of trade rumors, even prior to this summer, and the Mets appear to be one of the clubs now pursuing the two-time All-Star. The New York Daily News reported on Sunday that the defending National League champions are one of “several” in contention for Lucroy, citing a pair of industry sources.
The Mets are willing to part with their catcher, Travis d’Arnaud, according to the report, but the Brewers apparently want a top prospect added to the deal. Lucroy has a good reputation behind the plate and is enjoying a resurgent season with the bat, hitting .301/.362/.491 with 13 home runs and 50 RBIs. While Lucroy has a $5.25 million club option for 2017, d’Arnaud is under club control through the ’19 season. On the other hand, the 27-year-old d’Arnaud has battled an assortment of injuries, including this year, which has seen him play in just 34 games.
