Slip costs Miley in otherwise strong start

TORONTO — Mariners starter Wade Miley made one mistake on Sunday afternoon, and it proved to be the difference in a 2-0 loss to the Blue Jays.
The 29-year-old slipped on his delivery of an 0-1 fastball to Edwin Encarnacion in the fourth, and the All-Star made Miley pay, putting the ball over the center-field wall to give the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead.
“I kind of slipped a little bit. I was trying to go up and away and I fell down,” Miley said of the pitch to Encarnacion. “Somehow it ended up middle-middle and he crushed it. I didn’t think I was going to be able to throw anywhere near the plate when it happened, of course it went right down the middle, but that’s part of it, it happens.
