The Los Angeles Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals face off in St. Louis in the rubber game of their three-game series tonight on ESPN and the ESPN app.
Pitching matchup
Tonight’s starters are on opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to major league experience.
The Dodgers will send Scott Kazmir to the mound. He is in the midst of his 12th big league season and is with his sixth franchise.
For the Cardinals, it will be Mike Mayers, who is making his MLB debut. Mayers was drafted by the Cardinals in the 3rd round of the 2013 draft.
Scott Kazmir
The Dodgers have won five straight Kazmir starts after going 6-8 in his first 14 starts this season. It’s his longest such streak since the Athletics won all six of his starts in April 2014.
He has a 2.25 ERA with 23 strikeouts and three walks in his past three starts.
Mike Mayers
