Franco, Rupp sit out after HBP’s as precaution

PITTSBURGH — Getting hit by pitches kept two players out of the Phillies’ series finale against the Pirates on Sunday.
Maikel Franco was hit on the left wrist by Gerrit Cole on Friday, and he has not played since, though X-rays came back negative. Cameron Rupp was hit in the head with a pitch by Tyler Glasnow on Saturday, with the ball hitting the flap of his helmet and impacting his cheek.
Rupp avoided any broken bones or a concussion, but both were out of the lineup as a precautionary measure. Franco fractured his wrist in the same place last season.
