Conforto makes sweet diving grab in first CF start

MIAMI — Strapped for offense, Mets manager Terry Collins couldn’t wait any longer to give Michael Conforto his first career start in center field on Sunday against the Marlins. It was only a matter of time.
The plan was to originally let the 23-year-old take a full week of fly balls at the position, avoiding the spacious outfield in Marlins Park in the process. But Conforto, who hit seventh Sunday, played the last three innings in center Saturday and earned a start in the series finale in Miami.
Conforto made his presence felt immediately, as he made a fantastic diving catch to rob Miguel Rojas of a hit leading off the bottom of the first inning.
