Jeff Samardzija gets the ball for the first-place Giants in his Yankee Stadium debut this afternoon in the rubber game of an Interleague series against the Yankees.

Samardzija and the Giants are trying to maintain their lead in the National League West over the Dodgers, who play the Cardinals tonight in St. Louis in the weekend’s final game.

Today’s full schedule of Major League games also features starts from Steven Matz of the Mets, Jon Lester of the Cubs, Corey Kluber of the Indians and Tim Lincecum of the Angels. Meanwhile, baseball’s top prospect, Lucas Giolito, is scheduled to start for the Nationals.

Samardzija is starting on six days’ rest, and he’s posted a 5.40 ERA in three prior outings this season with at least six days between starts.

The Giants snapped a six-game losing skid Saturday with a 2-1 win in 12 innings. San Francisco leads the Dodgers by four games in the NL West.

Nathan Eovaldi make his second straight start for the Yankees following three appearances out of the bullpen. He tossed 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball to beat the Orioles in his last outing.
