White Sox ace Chris Sale was scratched from Saturday’s start vs. the Tigers, a source told MLB.com’s Jon Paul Morosi.
The club has not confirmed the news.
Reliever Matt Albers, who has made 42 appearances out of the bullpen this season, got the nod for the emergency start at U.S. Cellular Field.
Sale (14-3, 3.18 ERA), whose name has been mentioned in trade rumors, would have been vying to become the Majors’ first 15-game winner this season.
