FP3: Rosberg narrowly pips Verstappen

Nico Rosberg was the driver to beat in Saturday’s final practice in Budapest, a session in which Lewis Hamilton concentrated on race pace and Max Verstappen challenged.
On a hot morning in Hungary, where the track temperature started at 43’C and rose to the high 40s, Hamilton, Daniel Ricciardo and Rosberg all had a period at the top of the timesheets in the first half of the session.
However, it was Rosberg with a 1:20.547 who was able to hold onto it, 0.481s up on Ricciardo while Verstappen slotted into third place.
Rosberg put in two quick laps on his supersoft tyres to slide into P1 while Hamilton, who flat-spotted his front right, moved onto race simulation, which he missed out on that through his FP2 crash on Friday.
The final 30 minutes saw Ricciardo, on a new set of supersofts, close up on Rosberg to just 0.179s while Kimi Raikkonen took third off Verstappen. Sebastian Vettel slotted into fifth place but …
