Canadian Open started way back in 1881, with women’s tournament added in 1892, which makes it one of the oldest tennis events still running, and one of the most prestige as well. Since 2011, the tournament has been played in the same weeks, in both Montreal and Toronto, with men’s and women’s fields changing location every year. Women’s event in Montreal started in 1982, and that’s this year’s location as well, at Stade Uniprix. In the Open era, Canadian Open has been won by the players like Evonne Goolagong Cawley, Chris Evert, Tracy Austin, Martina Navratilova, Gabriela Sabatini, Steffi Graf, Jennifer Capriati, Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, Monica Seles, Martina Hingis, Serena Williams and few more world number 1’s in the last 10 years or some.
