WTA Stanford and Washington: Venus Williams Reaches first Stanford Semi-final since 2009!

The quarter-final results in the two WTA tournaments being held in Washington, at the Citi Open and in Stanford, at Bank of the West Classic were mixed-bags, with the expected favourites going through, with a couple of unexpected upsets. The latter was especially significant to the Citi Open, where two of the last remaining top-four seeds, including the first seed Samantha Stosur, were ousted.
