Red Sox OF Betts (knee) exits, is day-to-day

BOSTON — Mookie Betts had little trouble jogging around the bases after hitting another leadoff home run Friday night at Fenway Park.
Two innings later, though, the Boston Red Sox’s star right fielder exited with stiffness in his right knee.
“Felt like he couldn’t run as normal,” Red Sox manager John Farrell said after a 2-1 loss to the Minnesota Twins. “Precautionary, we got him off his feet here. We’ll check him when he comes in [Saturday] to see if he’s going to be available, but right now, [he’s] day-to-day.”
There wasn’t a particular play that set off the injury, according to Farrell, who said Betts has been experiencing periodic soreness in his right knee since the Red Sox returned from the All-Star break last week. While he has received attention from the …
