RBC Canadian Open 2016: Friday Leaderboard Scores and Highlights
- Updated: July 23, 2016
Dustin Johnson and Luke List maintained their tie atop the leaderboard at the RBC Canadian Open on Friday, shooting matching one-under 71s to pace the field at seven under overall.
Johnson and List didn’t match the dominance they displayed in Thursday’s opening round, which saw them card six-under 66s, but they performed well enough to stay in front at Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville, Ontario.
Here is a look at the leaderboard through two rounds, with the full results available at the PGA Tour’s official website:
Early indications suggested Johnson would plummet from his perch, as he struggled mightily at the start of his second round, which began on the back nine.
As seen in this video, courtesy of the PGA Tour, Johnson carded a double bogey on the par-three 12th after hitting his tee shot into the trees:

The reigning U.S. Open champion showed remarkable resiliency, though, by bouncing back and erasing his poor start.
Johnson birdied Nos. 16 and 18 before going on to birdie the first, second, fifth and sixth holes as well.
His performance on the sixth was perhaps his best of the day, as he generated incredible backspin on his approach shot to set up an easy birdie putt, as the PGA Tour showed:

While the 32-year-old American squandered his chance to enter the third round with the solo lead by bogeying the eighth hole, his day turned out to be a resounding success considering how badly it could have gone.
Johnson put himself in position to vie for another victory entering the weekend, which has been virtually automatic for him as of late, according to ESPN Stats & Info:
Dustin Johnson is tied for the lead at the RBC Canadian Open after one round. He’s …
