Rickard latest Orioles outfielder to land on DL

BALTIMORE — The Orioles’ outfield took another hit Friday when the club placed Joey Rickard on the disabled list with a right thumb ligament injury. The 25-year-old had an MRI exam Friday on his thumb, which he injured during Wednesday’s game against the Yankees.
The O’s recalled Triple-A Norfolk outfielder Dariel Alvarez to replace Rickard. With the Orioles anticipating ahead of time that they would need to place Rickard on the DL, Alvarez was in Baltimore before the game …
