Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt has had back surgery ahead of the 2016 NFL season.

Watt to Begin Training Camp on PUP List Thursday, July 21
John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reported the details on Watt and indicated the defender should be ready for the regular season.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network added the surgery happened recently and carries a recovery timeline of six to eight weeks.
Watt underwent sports hernia surgery in January after he reportedly played through some serious injuries toward the end of the 2015 season.
