We start with the last European clay-court event of the season, Bastad, that lost its biggest star: Angelique Kerber could not enter the court due to an elbow injury. ‘Yesterday during the match my elbow started to give me pain and I was hoping that overnight all the treatment that I got last night and this morning would make it better’, Kerber said. ‘But I was practicing this morning and I was not feeling 100% and it’s still painful so that’s why I decided not to risk it and why I’m withdrawing’. So Lara Arruabarrena advances to the quarter-finals where will face Laura Siegemund.
