Hibs lose on penalties

John McGinn endured heartbreak from the penalty spot as Hibernian crashed out of the Europa League against Brondby in Copenhagen on Thursday.
Hibs turned in a fine display in the Danish capital to secure a 1-0 win on the night thanks to a goal from Scottish Cup hero David Gray.
Having lost to Brondby by the same score in the first leg of the second qualifying round at Easter Road, the tie was taken into extra time but remained 1-1 on aggregate after 120 minutes, taking the night to a penalty shoot-out.
Debutant keeper Ross Laidlaw had also excelled in what was shaping up to be an unforgettable night for the 1,000 fans who made the journey to Copenhagen.
However, McGinn was the unfortunate villain from the spot, his tame kick being saved while Brondby scored with all of their efforts to progress 5-3.
