A top-quality entry of 52 has been received for the £100,000 Group Two Saint Gobain Weber Park Stakes on the fourth and final day of the Ladbrokes St Leger Festival at Doncaster, Saturday, September 10.

Aidan O’Brien has yet to win the seven-furlong contest but Ireland’s champion Flat trainer has eight contenders this year including last season’s champion two-year-old Air Force Blue and Hit It A Bomb, successful in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf at Keeneland in October.

Other notable three-year-old entries include Group 1 Coronation Stakes runner-up Nemoralia (Jeremy Noseda) and recent impressive Newmarket Listed winner Lumiere (Mark Johnston), who also took the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes last season.

First Selection (Simon Crisford) was second in the Group 1 Poule d’Essai des Poulains, the French 2000 Guineas, at Deauville in May, while Nathra (John Gosden) filled the same position in the fillies’ equivalent, the Group 1 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches.

Sir Michael Stoute has entered a pair of lightly-raced three-year-olds in Thikriyaat and Forge, who were second and third respectively in the Group 3 Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot in June.

The older generation includes the five-year-old Suedois (David O’Meara), who chased home last year’s Saint Gobain Weber Park Stakes victor Limato in the Group 1 July Cup at Newmarket earlier this …
