Ten was the magic number for a pair of Dodgers pitchers on Wednesday night as both Jose De Leon and Yadier Alvarez struck out 10 hitters in their respective starts for Triple-A Oklahoma City and Class A Great Lakes.

De Leon, the Dodgers’ No. 2 prospect and No. 20 on the Top 100, yielded four hits over a career-high eight scoreless innings to pace Oklahoma City in a 7-0 shutout of Tacoma. The 23-year-old right-hander hit one batter but did not issue a walk in the outing, as he demonstrated exemplary command of his arsenal by throwing 80 of his 105 pitches for strikes.

De Leon now has struck out exactly 10 hitters in back-to-back starts for Oklahoma City. On Thursday, he fanned a pair of hitters in both the first and second innings before later striking out the side in the seventh. In total, he’s registered 64 strikeouts against 14 walks through 43 1/3 frames this season, while holding opposing hitters to a .190 average.

Meanwhile, down in the Midwest League, Alvarez (Dodgers’ No. 10) struck out the side in both the first and second innings en route to recording a career-best 10 strikeouts in his debut for Class A Great Lakes. The right-hander allowed one earned run on three hits and one walk while completing five innings for the second time this season. Alvarez, 20, was promoted to full-season ball after he posted a 1.80 ERA with nine hits allowed and 26 strikeouts over 20 innings (five starts) for the organization’s Arizona League affiliate.
