Teixeira back in lineup, and he hopes to stay

NEW YORK — Having missed three games after fouling a ball off his left foot Saturday afternoon, Mark Teixeira was back in the Yankees’ lineup against the Orioles on Wednesday night, playing first base and hitting fifth. But given the state of Teixeira’s season, the foot might be the least of his concerns upon his return.
Teixeira, who was hitting .186 with seven home runs in 63 games heading into Wednesday’s game, is still nursing the knee injury that kept him on the disabled list for most of June — and he continues to feel pressure to break out of his hitting slump in what he has described as a “terrible” season.
“The only thing I can do the last two months is try to get healthy and be hot,” Teixeira said. “I live off my hot streaks, and I haven’t had one yet this year. Hopefully I can stay on the field, …
