Red Sox waiting on Uehara MRI; Ziegler to close

BOSTON — The Red Sox placed reliever Koji Uehara on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with a right pectoral strain.
The move comes one day after the right-hander exited a 4-0 win against the San Francisco Giants, clutching his right arm after throwing just seven pitches.
In his pregame news conference Wednesday, Red Sox manager John Farrell said Uehara was going through an MRI on Wednesday afternoon and that the team wouldn’t know the severity of the injury until later.
“We’ll get more detailed information after the game, but he’s got some soreness in the right pec,” Farrell said.
