First meeting of women in canoeing held in Spain

The Committee on Women and Canoeing of the Spanish Canoe Federation (Real Federación Española de Piragüismo) has held the first meeting ever of women in canoeing in Trasona, Spain. One of the main goals of the event was improvement of women’s participation in canoeing.
It was an unforgettable day for Spanish canoeing and most of all for the Committee on Women and Canoeing of the Real Federación Española de Piragüismo (RFEP) in their quest for promoting women’s canoeing which is a result of long-term planning. Those involved in the programme are committed to improve it in the future editions and to make it a point of reference for all the women in canoeing, to improve the social value of women in this sport as well as to give them greater recognition and promotion.
More than 90 paddlers took part in this gathering and were joined by coaches, club management members and technical officials. Participants competed in a new competition format – K2 and K4 2000 metres events.
