Porcello stays perfect as Papi goes deep in win

BOSTON — Continuing to make this season a memorable one for themselves, Rick Porcello worked 6 1/3 innings to match a 38-year-old club standard and David Ortiz defied time by clobbering another home run Tuesday night as the Boston Red Sox rolled past the San Francisco Giants, 4-0.
Porcello (12-2) limited the Giants to four hits while improving to 9-0 at home. He became the first Boston pitcher to earn that distinction since Dennis Eckersley in 1978. Ortiz, who has insisted he’ll retire after this season, drilled his 23rd homer of the season, a three-run drive in the fourth inning that padded Boston’s 1-0 lead against Giants starter Jake Peavy (5-8).
The Giants, who have lost four games in a row for the first time since they dropped five straight from April 17-21, advanced only one runner past first base through the first eight innings.
