Here’s a look at top prospects to watch in Wednesday’s Minor League action:

Hitter to watch: Raul Mondesi (Royals’ No. 1), Omaha vs. Las Vegas (8:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)

Mondesi fell a single short of the cycle on Tuesday afternoon, finishing 3-for-5 with three RBIs for Triple-A Omaha. The No. 32 overall prospect’s home run was his first in nine games since being promoted from Double-A Northwest Arkansas, where he batted .259/.331/.448 over 29 games while working around a 50-game suspension for a performance-enhancing substance.

Pitcher to watch: Jake Thompson (Phillies’ No. 2), Lehigh Valley at Indianapolis (1:35 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)

Thompson, No. 47 on the Top 100, arguably has been the most effective hurler in the Minors since the calendar flipped to June, winning five of his past eight starts while posting a stellar 0.64 ERA over 56 1/3 innings in that span. During that stretch, the 22-year-old righty has lowered his overall ERA to 2.42 from 4.23.

Duel of the day: Nick Neidert (Mariners’ No. 6) vs. Angel Perdomo (Blue Jays’ No. 23), Clinton at Lansing (7:05 p.m. ET)

Neidert has impressed in his first full pro season, winning six of his 10 starts for Class A Clinton, with a 2.60 ERA and a 0.87 WHIP in 55 1/3 innings. The 2015 second-rounder has recorded 46 strikeouts against just seven walks, and he enters the day with the fourth-best walks-per-nine rate (1.14) among all Midwest League hurlers with …
