Here’s a look at top prospects to watch in Wednesday’s Minor League action:
Hitter to watch: Raul Mondesi (Royals’ No. 1), Omaha vs. Las Vegas (8:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Mondesi fell a single short of the cycle on Tuesday afternoon, finishing 3-for-5 with three RBIs for Triple-A Omaha. The No. 32 overall prospect’s home run was his first in nine games since being promoted from Double-A Northwest Arkansas, where he batted .259/.331/.448 over 29 games while working around a 50-game suspension for a performance-enhancing substance.

Thompson, No. 47 on the Top 100, arguably has been the most effective hurler in the Minors since the calendar flipped to June, winning five of his past eight starts while posting a stellar 0.64 ERA over 56 1/3 innings in that span. During that stretch, the 22-year-old righty has lowered his overall ERA to 2.42 from 4.23.
Duel of the day: Nick Neidert (Mariners’ No. 6) vs. Angel Perdomo (Blue Jays’ No. 23), Clinton at Lansing (7:05 p.m. ET)
Neidert has impressed in his first full pro season, winning six of his 10 starts for Class A Clinton, with a 2.60 ERA and a 0.87 WHIP in 55 1/3 innings. The 2015 second-rounder has recorded 46 strikeouts against just seven walks, and he enters the day with the fourth-best walks-per-nine rate (1.14) among all Midwest League hurlers with …
