Cards IF Peralta to DL after reinjuring thumb

The St. Louis Cardinals placed Jhonny Peralta on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with a strained ligament in his left thumb, marking the second time this year that the veteran infielder has been sidelined by a thumb injury.
Peralta is the latest Cardinals infielder to be placed on the DL, joining All-Star third baseman Matt Carpenter (oblique) and first baseman Brandon Moss (ankle).
Despite the injuries to those three impact players, the Cardinals are not interested in trading for a hitter unless they can acquire a long-term impact player, a source told ESPN;s Mark Saxon.
