O’s hopeful Kim can avoid a DL stint

NEW YORK — The extent of Hyun Soo Kim’s Major League career might be limited to the 173 plate appearance he’s made with the Orioles this season, but the left fielder also played 10 years in Korea.
Through all those seasons, Kim said through a translator, he’s never missed as much time due to injury as this year. Kim hasn’t played since leaving a game against the Angels on July 10 with a right hamstring strain, and said he hopes to avoid a stint on the disabled list.
