Payne could start training

Melbourne Cup-winning rider Michelle Payne has applied for a dual jockey-trainer licence as she continues to consider her future plans following a serious fall in May.
Payne, who became the first lady jockey to win the Melbourne Cup last November, is currently sidelined as she continues to recover from pancreatic surgery after suffering abdominal injuries in a fall at Mildura.
Payne has yet to make a definite decision on whether she will return to the saddle, but has already applied for a dual licence that comes into effect in the state of Victoria on August 1.
