UFC 199 results: Dominick Cruz decisions Urijah Faber, claims trilogy victory

INGLEWOOD, Calif. — After all the hype and all the trash talk, the trilogy fight between UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz and longtime rival Urijah Faber turned out be what most expected.
Cruz used his patented stick-and-move elusiveness to frustrate the flat-footed Faber in the co-main event of UFC 199 on Saturday night, dancing his way to a unanimous decision win at the Forum. The judges’ scores were 50-45, 50-45, and 49-46 in favor of the champion.
Faber came out in the opening round and attempted to turn it into the pace-pushing, scramble-filled style which marked his WEC heyday. And he nearly made it work in what turned out to be the closest round of the fight, putting Cruz on the defensive several times.
