UFC 199 results: Max Holloway defeats Ricardo Lamas for 9th straight victory

Is it time for Max Holloway to get his title shot? The 24-year-old’s UFC 199 main card performance vs. Ricardo Lamas may have sealed it after his entertaining victory (his 9th straight win overall) in Inglewood, California. Here’s a summary of how this very exciting fight played out.
Early leg kick for Lamas and then a body kick. Followed by another leg kick. Holloway opened up with a couple of nice shots with his combination punching. A good uppercut and a right hand over the top by Holloway followed by a straight left and a head kick. Ricardo had success with his kicks but was otherwise getting pieced up by Holloway’s boxing. Massive swarm of punches and kicks and knees hurt Lamas but he never went down. Punishing body shot by Holloway. Lamas went for a takedown and it backfired, as Holloway sprawled on top and pried his leg free. Lamas attacked with a single leg with just over a minute to go in the opening round but Holloway defended nicely. Wheel kick by Holloway slapped Lamas across the face, but Lamas was tough and saw out the round.
