UFC 199 results and video highlights: Ortega rallies to TKO Guida, Dariush wrecks Vick
- Updated: June 5, 2016
There wasn’t a shortage of action on the UFC 199 Fox Sports 1 prelims. We had a couple of knockout wins, a thrilling finish to the Alex Caceres vs. Cole Miller contest, and an incredible comeback by Brian Ortega. Here’s how the fights played out, complete with highlights of the finishes.
Brian Ortega def. Clay Guida via TKO (knee) at 4:40 of round 3 – Featherweights
Guida’s striking looked as good as it’s ever been, as Ortega suffered a flash knockdown and was largely outboxed. The fight stayed standing the duration of the first 5 minutes, with the BJJ specialist willing to duke it out on the feet with the longtime veteran. Round 2 was another prolonged kickboxing battle, with Guida slickly faking takedowns and landing power shots on the exit. Ortega closed strongly by increasing his volume and scoring with big uppercuts that backed Guida off. Clay’s output also waned slightly but he still had his moments. Ortega finally got going in the 3rd round with his jab, but still likely needed a finish to win the fight. Ask and ye shall receive. Guida was the one getting tagged consistently and then Ortega unleashed a perfectly timed knee that sent Guida crashing to the canvas. Another remarkably 3rd round win for Brian Ortega, who becomes just the 2nd fighter to ever knock Clay Guida out. And what a way to do it.
HAIL MARY KO!With :20 left in a fight he was likely losing on the cards, @BrianTCity KO’s Guida! #UFC199 https://t.co/1NRg0yd1yb
