Tommy Haas is the new BNP Paribas Open Tournament Director!

BNP Paribas Open Chief Operating Officer Steve Birdwell has announced on Friday that former world number 2 and 4-times Grand Slam semi-finalist, Tommy Haas, has been named Tournament Director of the BNP Paribas Open. Haas, who lives in nearby Los Angeles and is a good friend of tournament owner, Larry Ellison, will succeed Raymond Moore in that position, after Moore’s improper comments about female players. 38-year-old German has been sidelined from the court in more than 6 months, playing his last match at Vienna in late October, and it is not certain will he play again, especially now after taking this responsible job at the two-week event in Indian Wells, which is the biggest combined tennis event for joined ATP and WTA Tour outside the Grand Slams.
