Euro 2016 talent spotter

Major tournaments can be breakthrough occasions for young players, and Euro 2016 is packed with talent just waiting to announce themselves on the international stage.

But will it be Dele Alli or Divock Origi stealing the show for their respective teams this summer?

Here we pick out 10 young players capable of making a big impression in France this summer…

Dele Alli (England)

Alli registered 10 goals and nine assists in a brilliant breakthrough season with Tottenham, and England are optimistic that he could have a similar impact at Euro 2016. Alli scored on his first start for the Three Lions against France in November, and there was another starring performance in the 3-2 win over Germany in March. Just over a year on from turning out for MK Dons in League One, the 20-year-old is expected to play a key role for Roy Hodgson’s side in his first international tournament.

Kingsley Coman (France)

Pep Guardiola described Kingsley Coman as “insanely good” during his impressive campaign for Bayern Munich last season. The 19-year-old Frenchman notched four goals and six assists in 23 Bundesliga appearances, and he also starred in the Champions League, playing a key role in Bayern’s 4-2 win over Juventus in the last 16. Coman scored his first goal for France in a 4-2 win over Russia in March, and he is likely to get more opportunities at the Euros. 

Breel Embolo (Switzerland)

Swiss striker Embolo is one to watch in Group A. The striker only turned 19 in February but he has already scored 30 goals in 86 appearances for Basel, he has featured in the Champions League and he has netted once in nine appearances for Switzerland.
