McCann dealing with hyperextended elbow

BALTIMORE — Yankees catcher Brian McCann has a hyperextended left elbow and was not in the starting lineup for Friday night’s series opener against the Orioles.
According to manager Joe Girardi, McCann suffered the injury during the Yankees’ series finale in Toronto on Wednesday. The 32-year-old did not play in Thursday’s makeup game in Detroit and is considered day to day.
“It was pretty sore yesterday, and it’s better today,” said Girardi, adding that McCann was available off the bench Friday if needed.
