Tigers call up Hardy, option Ryan to Triple-A

DETROIT — The Tigers recalled left-hander Blaine Hardy from Triple-A Toledo and optioned lefty Kyle Ryan on Friday.
Manager Brad Ausmus said Ryan was sent down to Toledo to try to improve his approach against left-handed batters.
“He just needs to refine his breaking balls and work his two-seamer more,” Ausmus said.
Lefties are hitting .364 off Ryan this season, while he has limited right-handed hitters to a .262 batting …
