O’s place O’Day on DL with hamstring strain

BALTIMORE — Reliever Darren O’Day was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring and righty Mike Wright was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk, the Orioles announced Friday.
Manager Buck Showalter said O’Day suffered the injury while covering first base in Baltimore’s 13-9 win over Boston on Wednesday night.
“Covering first base the other night, it grabbed on him,” Showalter said. “It wasn’t better the next day.”
Although the Orioles optioned Wright to Norfolk on Thursday, they are able to recall him within 10 days because he’s replacing an injured player.
