Wright placed on disabled list with neck issue

NEW YORK — The Mets are once again bracing for an extended period without their captain.
David Wright was placed on disabled list Friday with a herniated disc in his neck, leaving the Mets without his middle-of-the order bat for and extended time. Wright will rest for the the next 6-8 weeks before resuming any baseball activity, the club announced. Wright, 33, has missed each of the team’s past five games due to the injury. Last year, Wright missed nearly half the season due to spinal stenosis, a back condition that still prevents him from playing every day.
