Wright to go on disabled list with neck issue

NEW YORK — The Mets are once again bracing for an extended period without their captain.

David Wright will head to the disabled list Friday with a herniated disc in his neck, a source confirmed, leaving the Mets without his middle-of-the order bat for the foreseeable future. Wright, 33, has missed each of the team’s past five games due to the injury. Last year, Wright missed nearly half the season due to spinal stenosis, a back condition that still prevents him from playing every day.

He will be out at least 4-6 weeks, according to a report by Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com.
