Teddy Bridgewater: ‘I know what to expect’ in Year 3 with Vikings

ST. PAUL, Minn. — There’s an expectation around Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater that he takes charge of the team’s offense in his third season as its quarterback. That expectation has been placed there by no less than coach Mike Zimmer and general manager Rick Spielman, and while there will be plenty of outside intrigue attached to Bridgewater’s 2016 season, it’s clear the Vikings have their own benchmarks for Bridgewater in Year 3.

The team spent much of the offseason upgrading the talent around Bridgewater, signing Alex Boone and Andre Smith for the offensive line in free agency and drafting receiver Laquon Treadwell in the first round. If there was an underlying theme in Bridgewater’s first public comments of the offseason Thursday, it’s that the quarterback knows the Vikings’ investment means he should take the next step.
