His stiff back nearly 100 percent, Rondon rests

CHICAGO — Hector Rondon said he was fine after playing catch prior to Thursday’s series finale against the Dodgers, but the Cubs are being careful with their closer, who was not expected to be available on Thursday because of a stiff back.
“He’s better; he’s feeling better than he did [Wednesday], but I’m not 100 percent sure if he’ll be available,” manager Joe Maddon said of the right-hander before Rondon took the field with the club’s other relievers.
