Pence could go on DL with hamstring strain

ATLANTA — Giants right fielder Hunter Pence tried to remain upbeat after reinjuring his troublesome right hamstring Wednesday night, but manager Bruce Bochy sounded resigned to losing the offensive dynamo to the 15-day disabled list.
Pence hurt himself as he tried to beat out a ground ball in the fourth inning of the Giants’ 5-4, 11-inning loss to the Atlanta Braves. He stopped running when he was about halfway to first base, a clear indication that something was wrong. Pence left the game immediately and was replaced by Jarrett Parker, who’s likely to receive increased playing time if Pence is sidelined.
In Bochy’s view, “if” doesn’t apply to Pence.
