AJ McCarron calls on line from ‘World War Z’ to help wife deliver baby

CINCINNATI — Well into the process of childbirth, Katherine McCarron was, as one would expect, in pain.
So what did her husband, Cincinnati Bengals backup quarterback and former Alabama Crimson Tide superstar AJ McCarron, decide to do? He yelled at her — sarcastically, mind you — offering the former Miss Alabama and Sports Illustrated model a well-timed inside joke that got her laughing, and ultimately turning her temporary anguish into lifelong joy.
“Gut up!”
Moments after AJ McCarron’s exclamation, the couple’s first-born son, Tripp McCarron, made his widely anticipated arrival into the world.
As he started excitedly sharing his one-week-old’s birth story, AJ McCarron informally polled nearby reporters about whether they had watched the 2013 zombie movie “World War Z.” He described a scene in which a character needed to be rebandaged after having had her arm removed because it was bitten by a zombie.
