Jeff Dickerson: Even at 33 years old, Jay Cutler still has the arm strength to pass for 5,000 yards. So, sure, Cutler could reach 4,000 yards in 2016, which would be only the second time he’s reached that mark in 10 NFL seasons (Cutler threw for 4,526 yards for Denver in 2008). But the Bears are better off if Cutler passes for around 3,600 yards and keeps the interception total below 10. The fear with allowing Cutler to air it out too often is he can turn the ball over in bunches. The Bears are not good enough to overcome turnovers. For Cutler to thrive, he needs a balanced attack, good protection and a smart offensive coordinator who can devise a game plan that reduces risk. Asking Cutler to pass for 4,000 yards is probably not the formula for success. But again, Cutler is talented enough to do it. But do you want him to do it? That’s the all-important question.
