Leaky Mets pen spoils Steven Matz-Noah Syndergaard double feature

NEW YORK — Steven Matz’s streak of consecutive winning starts is over, and it was only partially his fault.
Matz didn’t make it out of the sixth inning and allowed more runs than he had in any start since his season debut but still departed the game with a lead. The New York Mets bullpen, fortified for the night by an inning from Noah Syndergaard, couldn’t hold it.
Hansel Robles allowed a two-run homer to Tyler Saladino in a three-run eighth and the Mets lost 6-4 to the Chicago White Sox, who snapped a seven-game losing streak.
With the back end of his bullpen a little tired, Mets manager Terry Collins could have used a long outing from Matz — even with Syndergaard available after throwing just 33 pitches before his ejection on Saturday. Collins …
