Beltre can use a hand to make All-Star Game

CLEVELAND — The Rangers entered Tuesday in first place in the American League West, but they are being shut out in the Esurance MLB All-Star Game ballot voting.

That could and should change for third baseman Adrian Beltre, but right now the Rangers don’t have a player in the top five at their position — or top 15 in the outfield — according to the first All-Star ballot update released on Tuesday.

Beltre remains one of the top third basemen in the game and entered Tuesday hitting .270 with nine home runs, 34 RBIs and a .471 slugging percentage. He is also the highest-rated defensive third baseman in the American League, according to fangraphs.com.

One problem for the Rangers is possibly their most deserving player is not on the ballot and would be a write-in campaign. Rookie outfielder Nomar Mazara went into Tuesday’s game vs. the Indians hitting .309 with nine home runs, 34 RBIs and a .492 …
