Abreu, Cabrera make push for All-Star spots

NEW YORK — The first round of American League All-Star voting, released Tuesday, has Jose Abreu and Melky Cabrera drawing attention for the White Sox.
Abreu, who was named an All-Star in his rookie season of 2014, sits fifth among first basemen with 189,963 votes. He trails the Royals’ Eric Hosmer, who leads with 871,222. Cabrera checks in at 10th among the outfielders, with a vote total of 248,249. Cabrera was an All-Star selection in ’12. Todd Frazier was not among the top five at third base.
