Halilovic misses out for Croatia

Highly-rated teenager Alen Halilovic, who impressed on loan at Sporting Gijon from Barcelona last season, has been left out of Croatia’s Euro 2016 squad.
Croatia coach Ante Cacic has included a handful of promising youngsters to complement the stalwarts in his 23-man squad for next month’s European Championship in France, but chose to omit 19-year-old Halilovic, who has won eight senior caps for his country to date.
Defender Tin Jedvaj, midfielders Ante Coric and Marko Rog and forward Marko Pjaca claimed their berths at the expense of Halilovic, Duje Caleta-Car and Domagoj Antolic.
Cacic said: “Every player involved in the build-up deserved to be in the squad and I had to decide which players we needed the most.
