Reus left out of Germany squad

Marco Reus has been left out of Germany’s Euro 2016 squad after failing to recover from injury.

National coach Joachim Low said the Borussia Dortmund midfielder will be missing from the finals this summer, revealing the decision to leave Reus out was taken because “he has huge health problems and can only run straight at the moment”. 

Julian Brandt, Karim Bellarabi and Sebastian Rudy have also been cut from the provisional 27-man squad.

Reus, who turned 27 on Tuesday, also missed Germany’s successful 2014 World Cup campaign in Brazil through injury and national team doctors have decided he would struggle for game time this summer.

“It’s a shame because he would have strengthened us,” Low said. “The medical staff could not give a clear prognosis for Marco.
