Penguins’ Rust day-to-day after Marleau hit

PITTSBURGH — Penguins rookie forward Bryan Rust is day-to-day with an upper-body injury suffered in the third period of Pittsburgh’s 3-2 win over the San Jose Sharks in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals Monday at Consol Energy Center.
Rust was carrying the puck into the offensive zone at 4:47 of the period when the Sharks’ Patrick Marleau made contact with Rust’s head, sending him to the ice. Marleau received a two-minute penalty for an illegal check to the head.
